The Living Venu
An A-grade All India Radio artist rooted in the Carnatic flute tradition, Amith Nadig brings the voice-like Gayaki style into conversation with Hindustani music, jazz and contemporary collaboration.
The journey
Born into a family of musicians, Amith began learning from his father, flautist Vidwan B. K. Anantharam. He later trained for nearly two decades under Padma Bhushan Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. R. K. Srikantan, absorbing the finer dimensions of Gayaki-style flute playing.
Recognised as a child prodigy in Karnataka, Amith became one of the younger A-grade artists of All India Radio and appeared on its National Programme of Music. His concert journey has taken him across India, Europe, the United States, Southeast Asia, North Africa and the Middle East.
Alongside the classical stage, Amith explores the meeting points of raga, rhythm and global improvisation. His work with The Amithias Project, Mystik Vibes and international big-band collaborators reflects a musical voice that stays grounded in tradition while remaining open to jazz, Hindustani and fusion idioms.
As an educator, he teaches students around the world—from first breath and fingering to raga development, tala, gamaka and concert preparation—with disciplined practice at the centre of the learning process.
